Exhibit Research & Design Consultant

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, board, key consultants and community partners on curating, researching and designing exhibits for the Muddy Waters MOJO Museum focusing on Muddy Waters’ life and music, the Chicago Blues, the Great Migration, and more.

  • Identify ideas for exhibits.

  • Conduct research to support exhibits.

  • Create budgets for the design and creation of exhibits.

  • Acquire materials for display in exhibits.

  • Oversee installation of exhibits and other artifacts and displays

  • Write supporting materials for inclusion in or to supplement exhibits.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Administrative and Marketing Coordinator, and key consultants to create a marketing strategy to promote exhibits at the MOJO Museum.

  • Work with the Executive Director, Strategic Consultant on the development of grant applications and sponsorship requests to support exhibits at the MOJO Museum.

  • Exhibit Research & Design Consultant position is a part time position reporting to the Executive Director.

  • Annual Salary: $20,000

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History, African American History or related field.

  • Curation and research experience.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • A high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.

  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Good organization skills.

  • Related job and internship experience.
